The original manuscript on 12 quarto pages, written by a copyist and signed by Leeuwenhoek, is preserved at the Royal Society (MS. 1915. Early Letters L2.6). Included are two figures, one in red chalk and the other in ink, pasted onto a folio page. An English translation by Francis Lodwick is found at Early Letters L2.7.
